As a parent of a preschool aged child, you have many decisions to make about your child’s future, including one of the important ones: his or her education.   Our Admission Packet has been carefully developed to help you decide whether the Green Valley Parent Preschool is the proper fit for your family. Below is some key information.

We offer a second child discount of 10%.  There is a $25 application fee and a $300 registration fee, see below for details.  You are responsible for providing a healthy and nutritious snack on each of your scheduled teaching days.

TIME COMMITMENT

To become a GVPP parent will require a time commitment from you, because you will be intimately involved in your child’s education.  Your effort will be guided by the structure of the curriculum and supported by the other parents.  However, you will need to reserve time in your schedule for the following:

1.     Monthly Teacher Planning Meetings:  The Planning Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM in the classroom. These meetings are mandatory and will include all teachers; allowing teachers to review the upcoming month’s curriculum and discuss any recent classroom concerns.  Material preparation will also be assigned during the summertime meetings.

2.     Classroom Teaching:  Class sessions are Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 AM to 12:15 PM.  Each parent/guardian teaches two weekly morning class sessions, roughly once in a 4 week period.  In addition to the class sessions teachers are required to do all classroom prep and clean-up (usually 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after class). Each team of 3 teachers is required to meet at least once prior to your teaching dates to prep. Each teacher is also assigned a group (reading, math or theme based project/science) and is expected to meet with their group on an as needed basis to plan and prep curriculum.

3.     CPR and First Aid Certification:  Each year all teaching parents/ guardians must obtain their certification training or a refresher course (Fee covered by your registration fee and class will be held a few weeks prior to the first day of school).

4.    Art Days: Each parent is required to lead one art day (Friday) per year (per enrolled child) with a teaching partner (regular classroom supplies are encouraged to be used but additional art materials will not be reimbursed; special paints, canvases, ceramics, etc.).

5. Sensory Bin: Each parent is required to provide one sensory bin per year (not to be reimbursed). Many items from around your home will often work. For ideas: http://countingcoconuts.blogspot.com/search/label/Sensory%20Tubs

ENROLLMENT PROCEDURE

GVPP has an ongoing enrollment policy during the school year; a student may be admitted mid-year if a spot becomes available.

1.       Request an INTEREST PACKET via e-mail, at Contact Us above.

2.       Submit the INTEREST PACKET, along with a $25 non-refundable application fee.  This secures your spot in our waiting pool, from which the parents will be invited to participate on a first come, first served basis, per the available spots.

3.       The Admissions Director will contact you to invite you to join GVPP and to fill out the ADMISSIONS PACKET.  We reserve the right to withdraw your invitation pending the Live Scan fingerprinting results.  This is purely for the safety and security of our children.

4.       Submit the ADMISSIONS PACKET, along with a $300 registration fee.  This fee includes the membership in the Joy School franchise organization (ValuesParenting.com), CPR and First Aid Classes, and Live Scan fingerprint clearance.
